On November 12, TCL Multimedia released its new 3-Year Plan -- 3033 Plan. TCL Group Chairman Li Dongsheng attended the press release together with related senior executives of TCL subsidiaries. TCL Group Vice President and TCL Multimedia CEO Hao Yi delivered a speech entitled "3033 - a New Starting Point".
Facing the changing market and consumers in the era of Internet technology, Hao and his team conducted a strict self-analysis in the aspects of strategic perspective, strategic goals and business model, critical paths, organization and operation and concluded this 3033 Plan.
After the release of 3033 Plan, Chairman Li put forward four requirements. (1) While formulating the plan, TCL Multimedia should develop an objective evaluation of its status, advantages, and weak points in the industry. In particular, the company should have a clear understanding of its short board and weak points and work on them. The management should have a strong sense of crisis and challenges. (2) While building up strategic capacity, the company should keep improving its fundamental capabilities with detailed measures and steps, which are the foundation to satisfy the survival needs. (3) Locate accurate supporting pillars to implement the new plan, especially in the aspects of new technology application and new product market opportunities. Working plans should be made to grasp strategic pillars and breakdown plans with concrete objectives should be furnished to guide the team to accomplish its mission and goals. (4) The organization and the team are the key to the prospective success of the plan. The company shall keep improving its team competence and strengthening team work.
Li finally stressed that TCL Multimedia is the most important pillar of TCL Corporation, which has long been providing strong support to it. TV manufacturing is the major business of TCL Corporation with the largest scale, largest global market share, mature industrial chain, and largest resources input. Li hopes TCL Multimedia shall act as the locomotive for the overall business development of TCL Corporation. The strategic goal of TCL is to become a global leading consumer electronics supplier with pillar subsidiaries entering into first-group suppliers on the global market and overall strength entering into the Fortune 500.
3033 Plan began to be furnished on August 13, 2013. During the past three months, executives of the management and consultants from IBM held 5 seminars to go over the issues such as the status and trend of the consumer electronics industry, competitors, consumer demands analysis, and major problems with the company and possible solutions. Upon finalizing strategic goals and direction, the management furnished breakdown objectives, critical paths, and roadmap for implementation and submitted them for review and approval from the group leadership. With a number of discussions and with comments and suggestions from related personnel, TCL Multimedia finally came out with this 3033 Plan to upgrade the company in the coming three years.
The press conference itself was different. The invitation letter simply has a few words: “3033 -- a New Starting Point. 11-12-2013". For more details of the conference, one need to get on the "TCL TV" public micro-message platform. At the conference, there was neither sign-in book nor meeting agenda. Every participant needs to use his cellular phone to "sign in" by reading QR code to get a boarding pass with the agenda of the meeting. It was a live-broadcasting conference around the world. A video was played before the meeting and the speakers and the audience had adequate communication. Every participant had a colorful paper airplane under the chair and every TMer put down his dream in words on the paper plane. Before the end of the conference, Hao and all attending executives and colleagues threw the paper planes in the air to fly their dreams. Every participating TMer strongly felt the influence of Internet-based technology, which has penetrated to every corner of his life. Everyone was clear that he need to update his mindset with the times and set out from a new starting point.
